These images form part of a body of work which draws upon Robert Adams ‘three kings of information’ (geography, autobiography and metaphor) in order to examine the Thames Gateway regeneration project and its wider consequences on the shrinking natural environment and increasing human population. The plants’ vulnerability when disconnected from the soil that nourishes them, and their interconnectedness with other creatures, invites the viewer to contemplate the intrinsic, as opposed to commercial, value of land and to reconsider nature as being our true home.
